biting the hand that feeds
The biter is typically of one of two minds. One biter has complete and utter disregard of others and is therefore sees nothing wrong with their behavior; consequently, they leave the bitten only learn not to feed them any more (i.e., fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me).
The other, though, has the ability to completely rationalize and justify their behavior as something they are entitled to. This is more painful for the bitten than just the bite, as it leaves them with much more to deal with. It leaves them confused, wondering if they are possibly at fault. It leaves them struggling between putting the biter down or risking getting bitten again.
Oh, it would be so much easier to simply not to have to deal with a biting dog again, but alas, some dogs, no matter how painful the bite they inflict, have something about them that keeps you trying to reach out to them.
YMMV
