getting benched

i need to seat 4-5 people on a backless bench, roughly 8′ long. as this is longer than most benches, i’m thinking two benches.

this means not only no back, but no arms because seating 5 people means someone has to sit in the middle.

i’ve found some ideas (“inspiration”), but it doesn’t seem that anything available on the market is either readily available or reasonably priced.

this one fit’s the dimensions, for the most part, but there are a few other criteria that might make it untenable.

it needs to be stored, because it’s only going to be used a couple times a year.
it needs to be sturdy, yet easy to move.
if possible, the two benches need to be able to be joined so that they don’t move.

i’m working on a couple plans, and have a guy that can make it happen.

once this project is done, i’m probably going to do some more stuff on my own, maybe something like this that i found here.
